45 Human Rights Organizations Demand Justice and Accountability for Offenders

45 regional and local organizations concerned with freedom of expression and human rights have called for justice, accountability, and the prosecution of those responsible for all crimes against journalists and media activists. The Statement, issued to mark the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists, expressed deep concern over the violence, intimidation, and killings journalists face due to their writings and opinions, which are further exacerbated by the lack of accountability for offenders.
The Statement highlighted that, over the past decade, journalists have fallen victim to various crimes and violations, including killings, arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance, torture, and restrictions on freedom of expression. In all cases, perpetrators escape accountability and punishment.
The Statement called on the international community to pressure the relevant parties in the conflict to end these assaults and enhance protections for journalists.
