Session: Cybersecurity: The First Step Toward Protection

The third session of the first day of the Third Yemeni Media Conference concluded with Fahmi Albaheth, a consultant and expert in digital safety, presenting a set of essential tools to help journalists understand cybersecurity standards on both individual and institutional levels.

The session had a hands-on, training-oriented approach, focusing on critical tips for data protection. These included securing social media accounts, emergency response mechanisms during work, travel, or transit, and the importance of continuous development through annual training to prepare teams and monitor compliance with security protocols.

Albaheth also discussed policies and strategies that organizations should adopt to safeguard their data. He highlighted common mistakes made by journalists and media organizations that often lead to the loss of critical information.

The session further addressed how social media platforms like Facebook handle content inciting hate and violence, along with mechanisms for disabling violating pages. This segment aimed to enhance journalists’ and media organizations’ awareness of publishing responsible content.
