Nomination Form for the Annual Courage in Journalism Award – Yemen
The Media Freedoms Observatory in Yemen, affiliated with the Studies and Economic Media Center (SEMC), invites all male and female Yemeni journalists and media professionals to nominate themselves or other Yemeni journalists for the “2024 Annual Courage in Journalism Award”.
Such Award is granted, by SEMC, to all male and female Yemeni journalists who have shown extraordinary bravery in the pursuit of reporting, risking their lives to delivering the truth to the people.
The winning journalists will be awarded a cash prize of $2,000 and a Shield of Honor of Journalistic Courage during the Third Annual Yemeni Media Conference, which will take place in mid-September 2024.
The Award is granted based on the following key eligibility criteria:
Work in the Journalistic Field:

– The nominee must be a journalist or media professional, whether working for a well-known media outlet or as an independent journalist.

– Commitment to Ethical and Professional Standards: The nominee must have demonstrated a commitment to ethical and professional standards in journalism, including a dedication to reporting the truth and avoiding misinformation.
Bravery in Journalistic Work:

The nominee must have demonstrated courage in their journalistic endeavors, facing risks associated with their work, such as physical or psychological threats.

The Selecting Committee consists of six members (journalists and human rights activists).

The Nomination Form will be opened until 11:00 PM Yemen time on August 27, 2024. Applications submitted after this deadline will not be considered.
