Violations Cases Against Media in Yemen In October 2022
The Media Freedoms Observatory in Yemen released its monthly report “Infographic” on the status of media freedoms and the arbitrary practices against journalists and media outlets.
During February, the Observatory documented six (6) cases of violations in
Sana ‘a, Aden, Socotra, Al-Mahra, and Hadramawt governorates.
Those violations varied between arrests, incitement campaign and the prohibition of a journalist from filming an official event.
The report pointed out the parties committed such violations, as the Yemeni government committed five (5) cases, while the Houthi group committed one case.
The Media Freedoms Observatory in Yemen is a monitoring and information platform aimed at disseminating all matters relating to freedom of expression in various governorates of Yemen in a professional and independent manner, as well as analyzing and advocating for journalists’ issues at the local and international levels.
