Marsadak Condemns Campaign of Incitement Against Journalist Anis

The Observatory for Media Freedoms in Yemen (Marsadak) condemns the surveillance and harassment campaigns targeting journalists and media freedom advocates in the city of Aden, the latest of which is the incitement campaign against journalist Abdulrahman Anis on social media platforms.

The Observatory noticed a post on the journalist’s page in which he complained about being subjected to an incitement and threat campaign through X platform (formerly known as Twitter), due to his media activities, which led him to announce his suspension of writing for his safety.

The Observatory, on its part, condemns these abuses against journalists aimed at stifling freedom of opinion and expression. It also holds the security authorities in the governorate fully responsible for the life and safety of journalist Abdulrahman Anis and any harm he may be subjected to.

Furthermore, the Observatory reiterates its call to the security authorities in the governorate to protect journalists and ensure media freedom, especially in light of the unprecedented escalation of violations and oppressive measures against journalists and free speech advocates.
