Violations Cases Against Media in Yemen In April 2023
The Media Freedoms Observatory in Yemen released its monthly report “Infographic” on the status of media freedoms and the arbitrary practices against journalists and media outlets.
During April, the Observatory recorded seven (7) cases of violation ranging from one case of attack on a journalist, Nawaf al-Hamiri, by security soldiers in the city of Taiz, and (6) cases of incitement campaigns by outside media outlets and re-published by Houthi media outlets accusing six journalists of spying for the British government aimed at undermining the political process in Yemen.
The report also referred to the parties committed violations against journalists in Yemen, as the Houthi media outlets committed (6) cases of violation, and one case committed by the Yemeni Government in Taiz.
The Media Freedoms Observatory in Yemen is a monitoring and information platform aimed at disseminating all matters relating to freedom of expression in various governorates of Yemen in a professional and independent manner, as well as analyzing and advocating for journalists’ issues at the local and international levels.
