(7) Cases of violation of media freedoms, September 2023
The Media Freedoms Observatory in Yemen released its monthly report “Infographic” on the status of media freedoms and the arbitrary practices against journalists and media outlets, documented (7) cases of of violations against media freedoms during September 2023.
Over the last September, violations recorded by the Observatory have varied from one arrest to one detention, along with three threats, two interrogations and the prosecution of journalists over media activity.
The report pointed out the parties committed such violations, are the Houthi group committed one case, the Yemeni government, 4 cases, and unknown entities, 2 cases.
Last month, the report documented two violations in Sana ‘a, two in Aden governorate and one case in Hadramawt, Abb and Hodeida governorates per consecutively.
The Media Freedoms Observatory in Yemen is a monitoring and information platform aimed at disseminating all matters relating to freedom of expression in various governorates of Yemen in a professional and independent manner, as well as analyzing and advocating for journalists’ issues at the local and international levels.
