Violations Cases Against Media in Yemen In February 2023

The Media Freedoms Observatory in Yemen released its monthly report “Infographic” on the status of media freedoms and the arbitrary practices against journalists and media outlets.

During February, the Observatory recorded six (6) cases of violations in
Sana ‘a, Marib and Hadramawt governorates.

Violations varied from detention, assault, interrogation and depriving four detained journalists of their rights at detention center.

The report pointed out the parties committed such violations, as the Houthi group committed five (5) cases, while Yemeni government committed two other cases.

The Media Freedoms Observatory in Yemen is a monitoring and information platform aimed at disseminating all matters relating to freedom of expression in various governorates of Yemen in a professional and independent manner, as well as analyzing and advocating for journalists’ issues at the local and international levels.
